Actual battery run-time depends upon the power demands made by the equipment such as the applications you are running and your laptop settings. Our replacement batteries will last the same or longer than the original battery which came with the laptop when it was brand new (at the same capacity). Generally, a standard 4400 mAh will last between 45-90 minutes. You can calculate how long a higher capacity battery will last based on the mAh difference. A 7200 mAh battery will give you 64% more run-time, and a 10400 mAh will give you 136% more run-time than the 4400 mAh on a single charge.
The more cells in a battery, the more run-time you will get with the battery. Generally, the battery with the lowest number of cells is the standard battery that came with your laptop. The 9-cell or 12-cell batteries are the extended, higher capacity batteries that will provide you much longer run-time on a single charge.

The life of a battery under normal use is around 500 to 900 cycles (one full charge-discharge is considered a cycle). For the average user, the life of a battery will be between 12 to 18 months. However a more avid user might get less of a life span due to the frequency of charge/discharge cycles or improper care of the battery, and a user who rarely charges/discharges a battery will get longer life from the battery. As a rechargeable battery begins to fail, the run-time of the battery on a full charge will also begin to decline. When a battery supplies 30 minutes or less of charge, it is time for a replacement.

Watt Hours (wHr) is a unit of energy equal to the work done by one watt acting for one hour and equivalent to 3,600 joules. The wHr is a calculation of voltage and mAh.
Milliamperes (mAh) is a unit of measure electric power over time. It represents the total amount of energy store in your battery. The mAh rating is also a measure of the number of hours a battery may last. The higher a battery's amp hour rating is, the longer the battery's run-time will be. It is not uncommon for some of our batteries to have higher or lower amp ratings. This will not cause any incompatibilities.
Voltage (V) is the amount of electricity that is delivered to your computer. The amount of energy from your wall outlet is greater than what your laptop needs to operate. Therefore a power adapter contains a box like bar that will decrease the energy lowering the voltage rating. Each computer manufacturer designs their computers for the appropriate voltage requirement. Your battery pack will then be engineered to match the voltage of the power AC adapter. Laptop battery packs are composed of several battery cells that are wired together in series. While the voltage of the Hi-Capacity battery may not be identical to the original battery, the voltages must be within a reasonable range. Your battery will need some attention as soon as it arrives. Batteries come in discharged condition, and must be charged before using. The battery should be cycled (fully charged for 12 hours and then fully discharged) 4-6 times initially to allow it to reach its full capacity. Sometimes your laptop's charger will stop charging a new battery before it is fully charged. If this happens, simply remove the battery from your laptop and then reinstall it. The charge cycle should start again. This may happen several times during your first battery charge. Don't worry, it's normal. Some laptops have been prone to reject third party batteries if they have an old BIOS software version installed on the laptop. If your laptop rejects your new battery you will need to check your laptop manufacturer's website for system BIOS software upgrades. Once that is done, your battery needs only minimal care. Lithium-based batteries should be given a full discharge/charge cycle once every 30 charge cycles. If you’re not going to be using it for 4-8 weeks or longer, we recommend you remove it from the laptop and store in a cool, dry location. A recharge may be necessary when you’re ready to reuse it. Another recommendation: let the battery discharge over 50% before recharging. This practice lets you access the full potential of each battery charge. If you don't do this, charges may eventually be reduced by as much as half of their capacity.
Leaving your laptop plugged into a well outlet for long periods of time deteroriates the life of the battery. We suggest using it on battery power, draining it to 10% then recharge the battery. If you are plugged in at all times, to save on battery life, we suggest removing the battery and use the laptop on AC power only.
A battery needs to be recalibrated from time to time in order to keep the battery indicator percentages and time left accurate, and to keep the battery operating at maximum efficiency. You should recalibrate your battery upon first use and then every few months after that. If you normally leave your laptop plugged into your AC adapter, and very rarely use the laptop on battery power alone, you should perform this process once a month.
If you have spare batteries, rotate them regularly so they all stay active and avoid over-discharge. It is recommended to charge and use batteries at least every three months. Batteries should not go without reconditioning (recharging) for more than 3 months, as they may reach a deep discharge state and may not be able to charge up again.
